Women in Trades
This industry is male-dominated, we know that, so ensuring women have a place in our industry is important to us. There are many programs to help women enter the industry, as well as courses and grants to ensure women are represented and gain the skills necessary to enter a male-dominated field.
- Women in Trades Exploratory Course from Saskatchewan Polytechnic is a hands-on course that offers an introduction to basic trade skills led by female trades professionals.
- Neighborly offers six $1,500 awards twice a year to women showcasing their talents in the trade.
- The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant for Women supports females to enter, progress, and complete their Red Seal training. This grant is a pilot project with a taxable cash grant of $3,000 per year/level for a maximum of $6,000 per person. The pilot ends March 2023 so apply before then!
- Men and women alike can benefit from the Skilled Trades Network with information about training programs, financial support, resources, and more.
Take advantage of the financial support available to get your foot in the door and learn some incredible skills. The Sask Apprenticeship Board has amazing resources to help you succeed in this industry.
